• C. O. Bigelow Power Berry Mask

First off, sorry I’ve been lagging on replying to comments here! Work has been kicking my butt these past couple of weeks. I only have a few hours at the end of each week to queue up my posts for the next week. Time in between is generally spent cooking dinner and sleeping. And Farmville-ing. Because I just can’t let that part of my life go so easily *chortle*

On the subject of workin’ hard, don’t forget that I’ve been tracking the Semi-Annual Sale at Bath and Body Works for you! The “Guide” post is stickied at top of the blog, and I update it regularly as new sales are posted. Check back often to see what’s going on!

Now, I had the opportunity to try a new (to me) mask by C. O. Bigelow. This product retails for $18 USD, but as some of you may be well aware, C. O. Bigelow products are frequently available at Bath and Body Works on B2G1. I’d never tried any Bigelow items beyond the lip balms (and loved them), so I was interested to see what they would do with facial products.

    Product Claims

This purple power mask is formulated to rescue and revitalize skin with the powerful properties of the antioxidant-packed Brazilian acai berry. This multi-faceted skin saver purifies and nourishes skin with replenishing vitamins and minerals. It is formulated to combat visible signs of aging and skin dehydration, imparting a soft, porcelain-smooth complexion for a more youthful-looking appearance.”

“Restores tone, texture and translucency, and instantly imparts a soft, porcelain-smooth complexion.”

“Consumer research results: Over 90% of consumers said their skin immediately felt softer, smoother and refreshed.”

    Experience

I washed my face with my usual cleanser first, and patted it dry before applying the mask. The mask was thick and smooth, like your average store-bought mud mask. I was expecting a strong berry fragrance, but the fragrance was unremarkable – which is fine by me, as having something too heavily scented sitting on my face for any amount of time would probably tickle my sick-button.

The package said to wait 15 minutes to wash the mask away, but I decided to wait until it felt dry. Luckily, I gave up at about a half hour, because I highly doubt this stuff would ever “dry”. No cracking, no pulling, just creamy, moist smoothness from start to finish.

I do not feel I can fully vouch for claims that the Power Berry Mask “fights visible signs of aging”, because I did not have a large enough sample to test this for very long. However, I can wholeheartedly agree with the consumer research findings: my face was baby-butt smooth both times I used the mask. The skin also felt slightly tighter, clearer, and felt completely moisturized each time, as well.

    Brass Tacks

I wouldn’t mind purchasing this product. To be honest, the price of the product gacks me out a bit. Buying this B2G1 makes up for that gacking, but only very slightly. What makes up for the gacking most, though, is the quality and results gained from this product. I have never used a mask that has left my skin feeling so smooth or clear. It was, without a doubt, an absolute treat to use. So I suppose I would use it for just that purpose – a treat.

How about you? What are your favourite facial masks?

    • I’m a big fan of masks. LUSH fresh masks as well as the oh-so-very-pricey Ole Henriksen. 18 dollars isn’t too bad compared to quite a few that I’ve seen. Thanks for featuring a mask on your blog!
