Everybody, say hello to Concrete Minerals. She was my first Heartsy purchase, at $9 for $21 store credit. A right good bargain, if you ask me. I had a rough time trying to figure out what to buy with my credit, but in the end, I settled on two eyeshadow sets: the Envy Me Collection, featuring Juvenile and Swamped, and the Mermaid Collection, with Croma and Temptress.

Everything was nicely packaged, with high quality labels on the large 10g jars (with sealed sifter lid), a thank you card with a coupon code, and a large hype and how-to card, all wrapped up in pink tissue paper. Last but not least, my order came with a sample jar of White Rabbit. How generous!

    The Swatches

All swatches were taken dry over Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. In addition to UDPP, White Rabbit was swatched over a white and black base, to show off the duo-chrome effect (as best as my tired camera can manage).

    Eyeshadow Play-by-Play

JUVENILE: A nice, bright, acid green. It does indeed have sparkle, although I couldn’t tell that it was turquoise, as the website states.
SWAMPED: A deep, mossy green with a golden metallic punch. This is my most favourite shadow of the lot, and it pairs beautifully with Juvenile.
CROMA: A super-soft lavender with ‘aqua’ sparkle. You can definitely see the sparkle in this one.
TEMPTRESS: Described as a “dark teal”, I’d be more inclined to call it a twilight blue. Which is probably the same gosh darned thing to some people, but I’m picky. The gold sparkle is visible with flash, but it is very subtle.
WHITE RABBIT: White to baby-pink duochrome. Funny how awesome colours like these are the easiest to describe, eh?

    Application and Wear

All of the shadows I purchased applied easily, and blended out well to boot. Juvenile took two layers to pop, while Croma had to be packed on in four layers to get the best effect. Creasing with Temptress was interesting, as it seemed to love blending into Croma a bit too much, but it was easy to fix. My favourite shadow to work with has to be White Rabbit, however, as it was buttery smooth.

Once the shadows are on, they don’t budge, and most of them remove easily once you’re done for the day. I will warn you that Swamped was a bit of a bastard to remove. It didn’t stain, but by jove if it didn’t stick to you like an insecure, passive-aggressive, overbearing boyfriend.

    Brass Tacks

I would most definitely buy from Concrete Minerals again, yes. There were quite a few shades I had my eyes on when I first ordered (such as Napalm), and there were a whole crop of new shades released with the opening of their official webstore (Brat looks particularly tempting). I do have a 15% off coupon to put towards my next purchase, but for those who are interested in putting in an order right now, they are running a 20% off promo to celebrate the opening of their new webstore. So snap to it!

    • Beautiful looks! I love Concrete, and actually own all of those shadows! Well, kind of, Swamped is on it’s way to me right now. :P Juvenile is a hit in my collection, I just can’t stop using it this summer!

I just ordered Concrete Minerals for the first time when their new website opened up – can’t wait to get my shadows now that I’ve seen your swatches! I ordered Brat, Lolita, Lithium and Rocked, and then got to pick two “deluxe” samples, which I chose Swamped and Wicked for. And what’s more, I didn’t even read closely and see that these are 7-gram jars with 1.5 grams of pigment – I was expecting 5-gram jars with less than 1 gram of pigment, so you get even MORE than most places for a very reasonable price.

    • Your review made me giggle. Nicely done. Your swatches look nice! I also tried them from the heartsy deal but wasn’t AS impressed. Good yes, amazing and mind blowing, not so much. I might wander back if I find something totally unique.

      • I’d consider Swamped to be a “WOW!!1!” shade for sure. But I’m particularly partial to greens, so that might explain my chuffedness. It’s too bad you didn’t find a “eureka!” shade in your order :(

I found your site looking for reviews of some e.l.f. studio products and came across this post – which is REALLY weird because I just received my CM heartsy deal in the mail today!

I ordered Napalm, Blitzkrieg, Hearts, Juvenile, and Smut. I tried Juvenile on my lid with Smut in the crease and I thought it looked good until I saw how you paired it with Swamped. Smut is a little too…smuty compared to the brillance of Juvenile.

My favorties have to be Napalm and Hearts. Napalm is the most brilliant orange color with tons of dimension. Hearts is really a true read and it pairs great with Napalm!

      • Now that you mention the Smut… that would probably look SMASHING with Swamped, too. I think we’ve found another color I need to order!

I’m definitely digging the swatches I’ve seen of Napalm. Bright oranges? Yes, please!!

        Thanks for visiting! :D

    • Great review! I got a few Concrete Minerals shadows from a blog sale awhile back and I love them! I’ll definitely be placing another order!
