mark. Violet Femme iMark Eyeshadows
Happy Friday, everyone! Today is a new catalogue day for mark. This month’s theme is “Violet Femme”, revolving highly around floral scents, prints, and shades. For me, though, all it offers is getting “Blister in the Sun” stuck in my head on eternal repeat. This is not a bad thing, but it has absolutely nothing to do with this post, so we’ll gloss over my musical geekery and get back to business: I have some of the newest eyeshadow offerings to gab about.
With the Violet Femme release came three new iMark shadows: Violet Ink (a rich blue-toned purple), Pink Dusk (a deepened, frosty blue-toned pink), and Mystical (a light, icy purpley blue).
Each one weighs in at 0.08oz, at $6 a pop. For swatches, wear, and general thoughts, read on!
These shades are absolutely gorgeous in the pan, but sadly, they don’t translate so well to skin. Pigmentation is somewhat lacking, especially when compared to past iMark releases. I am assuming that this was at least somewhat intentional, and that they are supposed to be soft and subtle. But I’m neither soft nor subtle, so even if it is how they are intended to wear, I have to say I’m not impressed.
Over a base, however, the pigmentation does improve slightly. I’ve tested this over white, flesh-toned, and purple bases. So far, my favourite is over a purple base. So these can be high-impact – you just need to earn it with a bit of effort.
The only shade I found troublesome was Pink Dusk, which is a shame, because it is the one I most like in the pan. It fades quite a bit in blending, so it does need to be layered once more when you have your look mapped out.
The amount you get for the price is definitely a win for me. However, the performance of Pink Dusk makes me not want to recommend it at all, despite it being a rather beautiful shade. Violet Ink is nice and not too fussy, but it does require a base for a good impact. The only shade from this collection that I truly love, and would honestly recommend to anyone is Mystical – it is actually a very nice shade to add dimension to your purple or blue looks, and I am glad it has found its way into my collection.
Of course, I am a mark rep, and while I did receive these items at discount, they were paid for by me, and this is my honest opinion – I wouldn’t recommend anything I didn’t like. However, if any of these items do tickle your fancy, anyone can shop my store at any time of the day! Just take a peek at the sidebar for more info on how.
Featuring my GIANT EFFING NOSE. I’m not sure why it is so bloody huge at this angle!
