Hey all hi all! Today I’m popping in to let you know that Urban Decay is having another Friends and Family sale from March 6th to March 10th, good for 20% off everything on the site – including sale items. If there’s anything you should pick up on this sale, that should be the Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencil Stash.
CLASH is a bright turquoise blue with fine silver glitter.
REHAB is a dark, metallic milk chocolate brown.
JUJU is a light, chocolate milk brown. See what I did there?
SIN is… Sin. A nice rosy nude.
DELINQUENT is a dark plum purple with fine pink glitter (love it!)
These pencils are wonderful! Extremely creamy, easy to apply, easy to blend, and they wear wonderfully without using any sort of powders to set the shades. Of course, your skin type may change how successful wear is (my skin is fairly dry), but even so, these make rather delightful bases.
Regular price: $34
Sale price: $12
Friends & Family price: $9.60 (use code FFSPRING12 at checkout)
Hey all! I decided to give my nails a nice break last week, so I did nothing more than a nice sugar scrub, file-down, cuticle treatmeant, and slathered on loads of moisturizer, following it up a few hours later with a clear coat of polish. Nothing fancy or flashworthy. It was rather nice just getting to go natural for a while. But now we’re back with a vengeance. And by vengeance, I mean lots of freakin’ glitter!
CND “Silver Chrome” with China Glaze “Lorelei’s Tiara” tips. I love the subtle flashes of blue in this glitter polish! I especially love that it was half-off clearance price at Sally’s. Hot diggity!
This is a bit of an odd review for me, because while I work in fragrance, I don’t like reviewing fragrance. I like talking about it, sure, but fragrance is something so incredibly personal that it’s hard for one person to say “Oh yes, it smells like this, and it’s wonderful!” and have that assessment mean anything to the other person. Noses are different. Bodies are different. Personal preference always varies. But I decided to give this a whirl, because this is a company I’ve grown to love over the past few months. You probably already know of it through reviews of their highly acclaimed Black Magic soap: One Hand Washes the Other (OHWTO).
In fragrance, this year saw the return of a slightly reworked fragrance from Valentine’s 2011, as well as a new and incredibly delicious offering, both of which can be viewed and purchased at their webstore.
BE MINE is a slightly revamped version of the 2011 fragrance, blending notes of cinnamon candies, buttercream frosting, fruit punch, roses, jasmine and orange blossom, with a hint of coffee and tea. On opening the cap of the solid fragrance, the florals and punch hit the nose first, with a slight hint of cinnamon candies in the background. On my skin, the cinnamon candies roar to the foreground, softening over the next five minutes, which then highlights the rose and jasmine. At the end of wear, the rose fades as the tea comes to the forefront, mingling beautifully with the jasmine.
BE TRUE, my favourite of the Valentine’s fragrances, is a wonderfully romantic blend of baby roses, raspberries, white chocolate, and a hint of sandalwood. All four of these notes are very present when opening the cap of a solid fragrance, and carry over to the skin extremely well. The chocolate and raspberry dominate when first applied, with time bringing out more of the soft hints of rose. At the end of wear, the raspberry notes fade, allowing the subtle sandalwood to be picked up.
OHWTO’s solid scents come packaged in a 0.15oz oval tube, with clear vinyl labels on each side. Ingredients are included on the back – ingredients, which I should note, are vegan friendly. The formula is very smooth, and has incredible staying power. I generally can’t wear a fragrance for more than a few hours, because most simply refuse to stick around on my body, but OHWTO solid scents stay stick around for a full six to eight hours. Your wear time, of course, will vary, depending on your body chemistry.
These fragrances are available for a limited time, to the tune of $4 for a solid scent, or $9 for a 5mL amber glass vial. As a special treat, these fragrances are also available in Whipped Bathing Creme, at $3.50/2oz or $6.50/4oz.
