• Mani Monday: Ultimate Rocket

Posted on February 20th, 2012, 5:13 pm by Miss Bekka

One of these days, I’ll actually post a mani when it’s completed and cleaned up. But I will only barely have time to get the other hand painted before I have to start getting ready for work, so this is what you get. A very, general idea.

Orly “Rockin’ Rocket” with China Glaze “Ultimate Holiday” brushed over the tips. And badly, I might add. But this will have to do until I can actually find the time (and energy) to do something nice. I’m hoping to get a new water marble in soon. I miss those!

  • Mani Monday: Val Day!

Posted on February 13th, 2012, 4:36 pm by Miss Bekka

What the heck is going on? I used to hate Valentine’s Day. This year, though, I’ve found myself really kinda getting into it. I reckon it just takes a while to adjust to the idea that romantic gestures are normal and okay.

Speaking of gestures, let me show you a finger. Or a few.

Still in progress – I have to do the other hand, and cleanup. But I wanted to go ahead and get this up here while I have the time to do so!

What I used for this: OPI Don’t Know… Beets Me!, Wet n Wild Wild Shine Red Red, L. A. Colors Art Deco White, L. A. Colors Art Deco Intense Pink.

This would definitely look better if I had a proper dotting tool, but I don’t. So this will have to do for the week.

  • Mani Monday: Zoya Happi

Posted on February 5th, 2012, 3:25 pm by Miss Bekka

Why yes, yes I am aware that it is Sunday, but I can’t very well change the title to Mani Sunday, can I? It just doesn’t have the same ring to it. Anyway, I’m hitting this one a day early, for I am to be terribly, terribly busy over the next few. Gotta get prepared, yo. Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal. And gotta do it with some nice nails, naturally.

Since we’re going to be rocking a “pink” theme at work shortly, I decided to go with a nice pink for my nails. I decided to use Zoya Happi, accented with Sally Hansen HD Nail Color in DVD, and LA Colors Art Deco lacquer in Intense Pink. I must confess, I’m not happy with my accent. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I frequently make horrible decisions.

Happi is a nice, bright bubble-gum pink with a golden shift, and it applies semi-opaque in two coats. Absolutely beautiful colour. However, I can’t say as I’m terribly pleased with Zoya polish in general. The formula was far too liquid, and that brush… Seriously, can someone explain that brush to me? Why is it so bloody tiny? I’m glad I acquired this one when Zoya was having their two-free-polishes just-pay-shipping deal, because I don’t think I could forgive myself if I paid full price for this.

Now, as I’m going to be busy, I feel it is my duty to share some links to keep you lovely people entertained. Luckily for all, Claire has started up a Weekend Link Love circle, which should do the trick just fine!

  • Mani Monday: Dragon Scales!

Posted on January 30th, 2012, 4:42 pm by Miss Bekka

I don’t generally participate in weekly makeup challenges. They became a big thing in NTMS, and have recently become a fun feature of one of my favourite blogs. But this week, readers of Toxid-Lotus voted dragons as the new theme, and I thought, “Hey! I have the perfect polish for that!”

I threw down two coats of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Ivy League, with one coat of Color Club shatter polish in The Great Divide. I bought this shatter months ago, knowing that I would love it (a blue green shatter with glitter, y’all! GLITTER!), but had never had the chance to use it until now. I think it works really well over Ivy League!

  • Mani Monday: Blue Lagoon

First and foremost, if you’re part of the indie makeup community, you’ve probably heard. If you are involved, but haven’t heard what’s been going on, you can check these links. Otherwise, if you’re not involved and have stumbled on this blog by a happy accident, ignore the drama and just enjoy the sparkle below.

It’s the first Mani Monday in a long time, hey! Not that I haven’t been doing my nails – I have. But I haven’t been doing a fantastic job at photographing the evidence before I wind up destroying the edges. This one I actually snapped, though, and thought I might share, since flakies are all the rage at the moment.

It’s interesting how the blue polish underneath has turned the coppery-orange into something of a burnt pink to the naked eye. I like it!
